The supply chain is about to take a bigger blow as a farming insider has recently said that increased costs are making it impossible for farmers to make any profit from their crops, particularly corn.
The cost of fertilizer, liquid nitrogen and the seeds themselves have tripled and in some cases, quadrupled from previous prices.
Some farmers are starting to plant soybeans instead, because it uses less fertilizer and allows for the use of chicken manure, however, soybeans are also experiencing a shortage and there could be a major grain shortage on the horizon.
The coming corn shortage will cause chaos, as it is used for animal feed and produces ethanol.
“What happens to the animal producers who depend on reasonably priced corn? I just don’t see how it can end well,” the insider said. “I just see it hurting both grain farmers and animal farmers, and also translating to more shortages and price increases for consumers who buy the end products.”
The food supply is not the only thing under threat, as Historian Victor Davis Hansen pointed out, the country is going through a “systems collapse,” which will greatly affect the way of life for Americans.
More households are cutting back on both the quantity and the quality of the food they’re eating and close to 2.4 billion people lacked adequate food in 2020, shooting up by 320 million from the previous year.

The C-Suite Outlook 2022 report, said that inflation was the second biggest business concern, behind the covid disruptions. Other concerns were the supply chain, labor shortages and consumer behavior.
Many CEOs said that the rising inflation could last this year and carry on into the future. Over half of those CEOs who were polled, over half of them said that pricing pressures will continue for at least the next 18 months.
Less than 40 percent of those polled said their companies were prepared for an inflation crisis.
A report from Bureau of Labor statistics found that consumer prices have risen by 7 percent in December, compared to a year earlier, and inflation rose consistently for the past three months. The highest inflation rate it’s been since 1982.

In a letter to Biden, Govs. Spencer Cox of Utah (R), Jared Polis of Colorado (D), Janet Mills of Maine (D), Larry Hogan of Maryland (R), Charlie Baker of Massachusetts (R), Phil Scott of Vermont (R), David Ige of Hawaii (D), and Lou Leon Guerrero of Guam (D) requested that the Biden administration import more workers through the J-1, H-2A, and H-2B visa programs to fill agricultural and nonagricultural jobs. The governors wrote:
We recognize there are many causes of the labor shortage, including some that are outside our control. However, that fact only highlights the importance of the policy solutions we can control. One such solution is to increase the number of temporary foreign workers coming into the United States under a variety of exchange or worker visas.
INVESTING IN PRECIOUS METALS COULD BE THE LIGHT
President, CEO and Director of Canadian mining company Callinex Mines, Max Porterfield, said one of the best ways people can hedge their assets is to invest in precious metals like gold and silver.
The American government is about to order the Federal Reserve to print more money, and this will of course increase inflation even more.
Porterfield said that people are starting to distrust cryptocurrency, but the best thing to invest in is something that doesn’t lose value, like gold and silver.
“When people are looking for a safe haven, they’re going to the precious metals, and they will continue to do that. You’re not going to have the same volatility in the precious metal space. So I do like most precious metals going forward like gold and silver,” said Porterfield.
