These Countries Are Paying People to Move There

Believe it or not, you can score some quick cash just by relocating.

If you’re casting your eyes abroad, you may be interested in some of the countries that are actually paying people to move to them.

There are many countries today that have a vanishing population. People are moving out of their cities, and someone needs to maintain those cities. These countries often have initiatives that come with free stipends or free housing, to the right people.

Chile

Perhaps the best place for entrepreneurs, Chile offers a stipend for those who are willing to open a business there. If you already have an established business, especially in the eCommerce realm, you’ll find it very easy to get a stipend and a visa in Chile. Ideally, business owners will want to stay there, so the Chilean government is very interested in making things easy on them.

This is by far the best deal, because Chile will pay up to $50,000 for entrepreneurs to move there.

Italy

There are many towns in Italy that are now ghost towns, as people have moved to larger, more major epicenters. These towns are going to die if people don’t move there, so the Italian government has offered stipends. If you want to move to a sleepy historic town in Italy where you know everyone there, you have the opportunity now.

Ireland

Ireland is looking for people to move to some of its remote islands, some of which even have high speed internet. And Ireland is one of the rare countries that doesn’t tax artists and writers, so if you’re someone who does a lot of creative works, Ireland is the best possible place for you. The addition of high speed internet is definitely a saving grace.

New Zealand

Another place with a vanishing population, New Zealand is considered to be one of the most beautiful and scenic locations in which to move. If you want a relaxing retreat where you can do business with the locals, everyone speaks English, and you can visit Middle Earth at any time, New Zealand might be the right opportunity.

Spain

Spain is suffering from much the same problem as Italy: there are people moving away from older, historic towns. These towns are historic enough that they’re made out of stone, and they’re going to fall into disrepair if no one continues to live there. This is an opportunity for those who want to immerse themselves in living culture, and Spain is also one of the best countries in which to retire.

United States of America

Did you know our own country is on the list? Residents of Alaska get an annual tax payment for living there, since it’s a remote place that needs stimulus. If you want to stay in the country but want to get paid to live somewhere, you do have a few options. There are even cities in places like Connecticut or Vermont that occasionally send out notices for new residents.

Canada

Remote areas of Canada frequently show up on the list of countries that are paying people to move there. More remote areas are dominated by the oil industry and need new businesses. If the new businesses come, it’s reasoned that residents will come as well. Thus, you may be able to get a stipend to move as close as our northerly neighbor.

How Can You Move to Another Country?

In general, moving to another country usually requires that you have some level of higher education, experience within an industry, or a well-established business that brings in money from other places in the world. These countries have growing economies, and usually want professionals who are going to contribute to the local area, bringing money in.

If you’re interested in moving abroad, now is one of the best times. You can live and work abroad quite easily by choosing the right place, and Americans are often welcome in other areas as long as they are educated and skilled.
