69-30.
That was the final Senate vote on the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill that Democrats and Republicans have been negotiating on for months. And while it still has to go to the House of Representatives before it can reach President Joe Biden’s desk to become law, it’s a major win for his presidency – especially when you consider that infrastructure was a goal of both President Trump and President Obama.
We’ve said before how infrastructure is one of those things that appears to be an easy win, only to find that passage of a bill becomes much more difficult than originally anticipated. Keep in mind that the Democrats’ original proposal was $3.5 trillion. Compromise was the key.
Now that the infrastructure bill is inching closer to becoming law, we thought it would be an appropriate time to discuss it and explain just what it’s going to do. Here’s a look at what you need to know about the infrastructure bill:
Breaking Down the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill
Roads and Bridges – $110 Billion
The single biggest investment is in repairing the country’s aging highways and bridges. Nearly 175,000 miles of highways and some 45,000 bridges are in poor condition throughout the U.S., making this a generational investment in this aspect of infrastructure. The $110 billion won’t be enough to repair all of it, but a significant portion.
Public Transportation – $39 Billion
The $39 billion would help go toward more public transportation options, better accessibility for disabled Americans and more sustainable buses.
Rail – $66 Billion
Improving rail service is another big priority of this bill, especially work on the Northeast Corridor. If the bill passes, the $66 billion would represent the single-largest investment in Amtrak on the federal level since it was built nearly 50 years ago.
Electric Vehicles – $7.5 Billion
President Biden has repeatedly touted the electric vehicle, or EV, as the car of the future – notably as it pertains to sustainability and slowing climate change. The $7.5 billion would go toward EV charging stations and electric and hybrid school buses.
Broadband Internet – $65 Billion
It’s estimated that some 20 million Americans lack reliable internet. This infrastructure bill aims to fix that. About $65 million is slated to go toward improving internet services in rural areas, for tribal communities and for low-income families. President Biden has repeatedly vowed to ensure that all Americans get a fair shot at the American dream, and this measure would better enable many lacking quality internet to attain it.
Other Funding
Other ways funds are slated to be dispersed include:
- $65 billion to modernize the electric grid to improve reliability and consistency.
- $25 billion toward updating airports, including runways, terminals and air traffic control towers.
- $55 billion on water and wastewater upgrades.
Now, the bill is in the House of Representatives’ hands. Stay tuned.

Ridiculous !waste of brain power !I mean no brain ?
I love the scumbags that right these articles make more government control and spending sound like a dream come true.
First, there is a mile per driven tax in it, yes thats right for you and I. Then there’s a mandate requiring car manufacturers to install interior cameras and breathalyzers in ALL new cars. Who do you think in the long run is going to pay for this Communist government intrusion, right again, you and I.
What their also not telling you is the bill is so full of commi goodies it only puts 10 percent into real infrastructure.
65 billion of our money for broadband, do you get broadband for FREE in your homes? I think not, but your taxes are paying to bring it to more homes! More money to airports, 25 billion people, do you get free airline tickets to travel once in a while? I don’t think so but our taxes pay for airports! 7.5 billion for charging stations for electric cars you can’t afford to buy anyway and do we get to use the charger for FREE? THINK AGAIN, you pay for the charge up!
Not only are we standing by watching our country being turned into a Communist crap hole but we’re paying for things we then have to pay more to use. So you pay to provide someone else with broadband but you don’t get the use of it unless you pay more, Get It! NICE GIMMICKS!
There’s money in there for studies on how slave labor in CHINA affects electric vehicle production! Yes, you read that correctly, why don’t you process that for a while. This BIPARTISAN infrastructure legislation is a Bipartisan kick in the American A?S!
Maybe It is crap like this the reason we are selling off American Farm Land to China, The Netherlands and Canada etc. Are we so desperate to give away our country that we sell it off in pieces. How unreal can our POLITICANS get to sell us out like this. We need a complete swamp washing done in WASHINGTON. Remember this at the next election time before you pull that lever.
The infrastructure bill is a flushing of money that increases national debt! It is intended to buy votes, not fix anything! The Republicans who voted in favor of passage need to be removed from office!
I TOTALLY AGREE! THOSE BASTARD AND BITCH RINO’S….NON-republicans…SHOULD ALL DROP DEAD AFTER BEING REMOVED FROM OFFICE! I have lost ALL respect for Lindsey Graham. We all know that murkowshi, collins and romney totally suck. As do the rest of the evil 19…But Lindsey Graham?? What the F? He is obviously just another stupid asshole RINO! To me, the RINO’s are every bit as EVIL as the commiecrap terrorist bastards and bitches party!, or CTBB party! Every day I pray that the CTBB;s all drop dead, especially bernie sandshit! HE is behind ALL of this terrible criminal action!
what rinos voted for this “shovel ready repeat” ? They need to be voted out office!
