For nearly 20 years, the world has been struggling with fears of climate change. We’ve been told the world is going to simultaneously bake to a crisp and drown if we can’t manage to get our recycling out on time.
Many have rebuffed the disingenuous 97 percent consensus, pointing out that satellite data doesn’t follow the agenda, and reminded liberals that we remember when they tried this in the 70s- calling it global cooling.
Now, one scientist is saying that if governments across the globe make a serious effort to lower carbon emissions, it would thrust us into a global state of poverty that would kill billions.
M.J. Kelly, a Cambridge engineering professor recently wrote a paper arguing that carbon dioxide should be considered the byproduct of an advanced society- and the result of technologies of “immense benefits.”
He added that dramatic carbon cuts would reduce the global quality of life to such an extent that mass starvations would result- civil strife and violence would follow.
“Massive carbon reductions can only be accomplished if we wish to see great portions of the world population die from starvation, violence, and destitution,” Kelly told CNBC recently.
Removing all of the excess carbon from our atmosphere “is not possible within 20 years without the poor and middle classes being decimated by direct control over their lives by the rich.”
He added, “Humanity deserves an earnest and serious investigation of the ways we have attempted to curb carbon emissions already. We need an honest and open debate on the dangerous impacts of upscaling these efforts.”
Everyone assumes that any change in the climate is going to be for the worst. But the largely silenced opposition to the climate change agenda has found a number of benefits that come with carbon dioxide. New science is showing us that CO2 is not such a terrible thing to have in the atmosphere.
In 2015, Indur Goklany of the U.S. Dept. of the Interior said that policy makers should take a second look at their aversion to carbon dioxide, which he says is a major contributor to the fertilization of plants, that it enhances crop yields and has a number of similar benefits. In fact, higher CO2 levels have improved plant growth by 14 percent over the last thirty years, according to Goklany’s research.
A Disingenuous Agenda
For over forty years, economic conservatives have been holding the climate change agenda at bay. It’s been an uphill battle, to say the least.
In a country where the political climate has largely been hijacked by social reformers who don’t have the understanding of history that would otherwise inform them the things they are so anxious to tear down are the very things that make their quality of life possible.
We’ve tolerated the left, and their venom, for so long because they claim to care about people. More and more this turns out to be a cover for an ongoing attempt to grab power and control resources- and it’s glaringly obvious that this is precisely what the climate change agenda is.
It only takes one piece of information to see it for the fraud it is. For example, the broadly forgotten Global Cooling agenda of the late 1970s. We were told that the world was going to freeze because carbon emissions were close to blocking out precious sunlight.
They wanted control over the activities of business, they wanted new agencies with the power to enforce new rules, and they wanted to regulate the resources and movements of Americans.
M.J. Kelly has called the cry for massive decarbonization ‘glib.’ He warns it would result in broad swathes of people dying of starvation.
Some organizations say they can implement carbon capture in a way that’s cost effective. But Kelly said he has some serious doubts about these cheap carbon removal claims.
Renewable energy sources like wind and solar power are not yet robust enough to take over for the level of carbon cuts that are being tabled- certainly not enough to replace fossil fuels.
Atomic energy is fraught with obvious perils. One needs only be reminded that the Fukushima plant in Japan is still leaking radiation at an alarming rate to see that.
One thing is certain, those behind the climate change agenda have not offered any serious rebuttal to solemn claims that their goals would amount to a devastating blow to the world economy, such as we’ve never seen before.
They know very well that they are threatening the world with a massive global recession- and the idea of mass starvation and violence isn’t giving them any noticeable pause.
