The supply chain crisis is deepening as the omicron variant – which is causing lockdowns across the country – is affecting food supplies and other commodities to supermarkets.
The Biden Administration, are doing nothing to fix it, if anything their incompetence is making the situation worse by the day.
The Los Angeles Times reported:
The highly contagious Omicron coronavirus variant is disrupting already stressed food supply chains, sickening so many workers that more shortages at grocery stores are all but certain.
Supermarkets have been struggling to keep food fully stocked throughout the pandemic as a result of labor shortfalls in every part of the food system, including farms, manufacturers and distributors. Now Omicron is bringing the problem to a new level. The variant is raging across the U.S. and raising health concerns that many thought vaccines had put to rest. Schools and daycares are seeing closures again, keeping more Americans from work.
With the current labor shortage, businesses are going to be offering more enticing wages to secure employees and this in turn will result in higher prices.
“We’re already seeing bare shelves,” Bindiya Vakil, chief executive of supply-chain consultant Resilinc Corp., told the Times. “Labor shortages due to omicron are going to exacerbate the issue.”
Meat producers had not reported illness issues with their staff, however, they are currently producing less product, which is contributing to the problem.
“For instance, the number of hogs slaughtered so far this week was down 5.5% from a year ago, and cattle slaughter was down 3.6%, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data Thursday,” the L.A. Times reported.
The supply chain and food shortages are so bad, even the Far-left media have no choice to report after they are generally reluctant to report anything negative about the Biden Administration.

“It’s barely 2022 and already social media is swamped with pictures of empty grocery shelves — from cream cheese to paper towels, children’s juice boxes and cat food.”
“Some of the culprits for this round of shortfalls are the same as in the early days of the pandemic, and some can be chalked up to new problems bumping up against old ones.”
The U.S could look to Australia as a warning of how they should not handle the deepening crisis, as truckers Down Under are required to get the vaccine passport to be able to deliver their goods and it’s making the situation much worse.
Various states around Australia, including Queensland and Western Australia have mandated vaccines for truck drivers and the result is empty shelves in the supermarkets.
Some companies are taking drastic steps to ensure they don’t have to cut back on products or shut down altogether. Conagra Brands and Campbell’s Soups are currently in the middle of aggressive hiring campaigns to secure staff.
“If people are out or people are quarantined as they’ve been since the beginning of COVID, we’ve got backup plans,” said Sean Connolly, CEO of Conagra Brands.
CEO of Egg Innovations, John Brunnquell, said that his company has been short staffed since the pandemic began and refuses to implement the vaccine mandate because that will cause even more staff shortages and less product output.
“Because it’s such a tight labor market, and because we’re already short of people, I don’t feel I have the ability to mandate it without losing a couple more,” he said.

Sherry, our education system is failing us because it is encouraging our youth to want the government to control us from cradle to grave. We got a small portion of socialism, when Biden paid people to not work by citing the pandemic as an excuse, to pay the lazy ones more than they were making to sit at home a draw their government handout.

Just because you particular store has “everything” doesn’t mean there aren’t any shortages. I have been to multiple different stores and all of them have had empty shelves or quantity restrictions in place. I’m glad your area has plenty of food on the shelves, ours does not. Huge areas of shelves with nothing on them, freezers with nothing in them, produce sections completely wiped out here. It’s not a matter of trying to scare people, some areas like ours are truly short in the stores and have bare shelves. I took many pictures in some of our local stores with no food on the shelves, and no dog food on the shelves! Bays and bays of empty dog food shelves!
