The Russia-Ukraine conflict is causing panic across the globe, as countries dump vax mandates, and concentrate on trade protectionism of important commodities.
Argentina has announced that they will be halting the export of soybeans – and will stop exporting soybean meal and oil – largely used in processed food and most of it is GMO.
Argentina’s secretary for agricultural markets – Javier Preciado Patino – signed a memo stating that in order to protect their supplies, exports will be on hold for the foreseeable future. As the announcement came, soy products jumped 2.2 percent, driving up prices even further.
Hungary has announced they will not be exporting their grain and Ukraine is holding on tight to wheat, corn and grains.
The United Nations expects food prices to continue to rise by as much as 20 percent.
Bloomberg reported on the stop in exports but stated that they expected to see Argentina raising taxes on soy products to 33 percent, saying: “The government typically puts a block on the export register, known as DJVE, before increasing taxes on shipments in order to stop farmers from preempting the hike with a flood of selling.”
Soy traders told Reuters that, “The sudden halt in Argentine supplies will steer importers toward the United States and Brazil for replacement supplies,”
“Buyers have no choice but to reduce consumption or go to alternative sources for supplies,” they added. “We expect higher demand for U.S. meals.”
Asian buyers will be hit the hardest, as they are Argentina’s biggest soy consumers and the current path seems to have a rather bleak outcome. World famine is on the way.
Countries are blaming Russia for the measures they’re now taking, but this has been happening due to covid and supply chain problems, and some are saying that these protectionist tactics are going to further drive up prices.
Bloomberg reported that Steve Mathews, head of the strategy at Gro Intelligence said the measures are something that will add to the problem, not solve it, “It adds greatly to the inflationary concerns,” he warned.
Another issue is the fertilizer needed to grow crops is not being produced right now and price hikes over the past year have had dire effects on farmers’ crops and the world’s food supplies.
At our current pace, the third world is going to starve, and it will cause even more unrest when people suddenly start trying to migrate to developed nations, for resources, and Eric Peters, CIO of One River Asset Management, warned a “great famine” will be unavoidable at this current trajectory.
It just goes to show the biggest flaw in globalism – when countries are reliant on global markets and not producing themselves, the consequences equal disaster.

Hello and good day. People we let this happen by refusing to talk to our representatives in Congress. We sat by as the puppet leadership was installed. I mean one was kicked out first day in the primaries and other did not participate, yet announced his acceptance as the candidate at the end of selection process instead of being selected. What happened to due process? Even our self professed Communist ‘Bernie’ went through the Democratic process. Then after the highly contested election counts, our V.P. accepted the senile career thief as our Commander and Chief. Find out who represents you in Congress and drop them an email but keep it civil, as this administration is committing cannibalism to stay alive, so your presence in D.C. will listen just to keep from being eaten (2-sides in D. party). Good comment. We have enough fraud votes found already in several states re 2020 AND the Senate run off in Georgia that SHOULD HAVE GIVEN US A SENATE MAJORITY IF NOT rigged. INSIST on our states getting these frauds recognized and decertify the electoral votes AND FLIP THE 2020 ELECTION and either reinstalling correct winner or have a legit revote. I keep hearing it’ll be better when we win the midterms, but that vote is months away and swearing in/installations are even longer. I don’t think it’s good to wait that long; America is harmed EVERY DAY BY THIS ADMIN, and Biden follows Xi like a mind dead man. And we certainly can’t wait till 2024, installations 2025.
